The group’s first open-door activity, with more than 200 participants.
We have just finished celebrating the first popular lunch of Penya Gastronòmica Barça in the old Estrella Damm factory, where all our members and their friends and families gathered, making a total of 200 persons in all.
This was our first open-door activity, with participation by members of the Federation of Barça Supporters Groups, led by their president, Salvador Balsells and the Barcelona Human Castle Barça Supporters Group, who gave an excellent performance.
We were fortunate to have exceptional guests among us, such as Jordi Cardonar, vice-president of the Social Area of FC Barcelona, the directors Josep Ramon Vidal Abarca and Pau Vilanova and the General Manager of Damm, Enric Crous, who acted as our host in the magnificent facilities of the factory. Jaume Giró, General Manager of Fundació La Caixa and Grandstand collaborator of Penya Gastronòmica Barça, was also present, along with Fusté, Rexach and Costas.
The event became a true red-and-blue gastronomic feast. The celebrities attending included players from the 1960s and 1970s, Josep Maria Fusté, Carles Rexach and Quique Costas.
First, all the members met in the Brewing Room of the old Estrella Damm factory, where we tasted a selection of Damm beers. During the tasting session, the president of the group, Pere Duran, gave Enric Crous and Jordi Cardoner a gift of two personalised aprons from Penya Gastronòmica Barça.
At the end of the meal, the moderator, Gerard Romero, known as “Romerito”, asked the guests to go to the Weighing Room to the sound of the Barça anthem. Once there, the chef from l’Escala Jordi Jacas prepared a popular lunch consisting of homemade sausages, ecological spring onions from l’Empordà and grill Iberian pork sausages, beef ribs and apple fritters made by cooks from Sils. The sausages had an exceptional companion, thanks to the world garlic mayonnaise champion, Rafael Guillot. All these dishes were paired with Damm beers and Tomas Cusiné wines.
A new meeting to allow us to enjoy our passions: long live Barça and long live gastronomy!
