Lunch with the fantastic Hugo “Cholo” Sotil

 

The Penya Gastronòmica Barça has organized luckily a lunch with the former player of FC Barcelona Hugo ‘Cholo’ Sotil at Restaurant Diagonal ‘Can Soteras’.

Sotil played at Barça during two years but he  was very well known due to the marvelous season of 73/74 where our team won the Spanish League after many years and got the incredible score of 0-5 at Bernabeu against Real Madrid.

Sotil did the fifth goal to close this unforgettable match.

For this occasion, the PGB met 15 members around a table with a peruvian and catalan menu.

The peruvian menu was in charge of the chef Roberto Sihuay, who is well known by his restaurant ‘Ceviche 103’ in Barcelona.

Roberto offered three very tasty plates: “Ostras en salsa de maracuyá espuma de leche de tigre y polvo de cilantro”, “Trío de ceviches: Rosa, Blanco, de Ají Amarillo,con Crocante de Yuca” y “Causa de Gamba Roja con Alioli de Ají Amarillo”.

These excellent meals have been paired with Cava Torelló Gran Reserva Brut Nature 2009 and white wine Crysalis 2013 also from Torelló.

The Restaurant Diagonal ‘Can Soteras’ offered a tender and succulent short loin of young goat which has been paired with red wine Raimonda 2009 from Torelló celler.

Sotil has been very kind to all the members of PGB, remembering some anecdotes as the famous sentence ‘Mamita Campeonamos!’ when he called to his mother at 3 am to inform they won the Spanish League.

Sotil will leave Barcelona with the memory that everybody remembers him very well as a great football player who was very important for Barça.
